We aim to handle personal information transparently and in accordance with applicable Australian privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply to us.

1. Personal information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include:

  • technical information about your use of our website, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referral source, approximate location and cookie or analytics identifiers.

Our website is used to submit enquiries and request quotes. Payments and final order processing are completed offline with our customer-service team. We do not ask you to enter payment-card or online-banking details through the website.

Please do not include sensitive personal information in an enquiry unless it is reasonably necessary for us to assist you.

2. How we collect personal information

Our website forms are operated through WordPress and Forminator. Information submitted through a form may be transmitted to our business email, retained in our website system where enabled, and transferred to invoices or internal business spreadsheets for quote, order and record-management purposes.

Some technical information is collected automatically through cookies and Google Analytics when you use our website.

3. Why we collect and use personal information

We do not currently use details submitted through an enquiry to send unsolicited marketing emails. If we introduce optional marketing communications, we will obtain any consent required by law and provide a clear way to unsubscribe.

4. When we disclose personal information

We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to:

  • our employees, representatives or contractors who assist with quotes, orders and customer service;

5. Google Analytics, cookies and website data

Our website uses Google Analytics to help us understand website traffic and improve the usefulness and performance of our pages. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies to collect information such as:

  • pages viewed and time spent on the website;
  • general device, browser and operating-system information;
  • approximate geographic location;
  • referral and interaction information; and
  • IP address and online identifiers.

Google processes this information under its own privacy terms. You can learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy and about Google Analytics data practices at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

You can control or block cookies through your browser settings. Google also provides a Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the website operate.

The website may also use essential or functional cookies needed for website operation, security, performance and user preferences.

6. Overseas processing and disclosure

We do not routinely send customer quote or order details to overseas recipients. However, some technology and analytics providers may store or process technical or account information outside Australia.

For example, Google may process analytics information in the United States and other countries in which it or its service providers operate. The privacy and data-protection laws in those countries may differ from Australian law.

Where applicable, we take reasonable steps when selecting and using service providers that handle personal information on our behalf.

7. How we hold and protect personal information

Personal information may be held in business email accounts, website systems, invoices, internal spreadsheets and other administrative records.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to our business to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These safeguards may include access restrictions, password protection, software updates, secure hosting and limiting access to people who need the information for their work.

No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. You should avoid sending confidential payment information through an ordinary website enquiry or email.

8. How long we retain personal information

We retain personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including managing quotes and orders, resolving customer matters and meeting legal, tax, accounting and record-keeping requirements.

When personal information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it where lawful and practicable.

9. Accessing or correcting your personal information

You may ask to access personal information we hold about you or request that inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date information be corrected.

Email your request to sales@floorprotection.com.au with the subject line Privacy Request. Please include enough information for us to identify the relevant record. We may need to verify your identity before providing access or making a correction.

We will respond within a reasonable period. In some circumstances, applicable law may allow or require us to refuse access. If that occurs, we will explain the reason where we are legally permitted to do so.

10. Privacy questions and complaints

If you have a question or complaint about how we have handled personal information, email sales@floorprotection.com.au with the subject line Privacy Complaint and describe your concern.

We will acknowledge and review the matter and aim to respond within a reasonable period. We may contact you if we need more information to investigate the issue.

If you are not satisfied with our response and the Privacy Act applies to the matter, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Our website may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. You should review their privacy information before providing personal information.
