Three layers, each with a clear job
STD Blue is not a thin adhesive film and it is not a loose fabric drop sheet. The 160gsm construction starts with a 20gsm PE outer film that forms the working face. Beneath it, a 20gsm lamination layer joins the face to a 120gsm self-adhesive non-woven fabric.
That combination matters on site. The face is easy to identify and helps resist common splashes. The lamination keeps the product working as one sheet. The softer backing gives the roll grip and a modest cushioning layer without requiring adhesive tape around the perimeter.

Temporary protection for fully cured hard floors
STD Blue suits many of the hard finishes found in homes, apartments, commercial interiors and fit-outs. The important words are fully cured, clean and dry. If the finish is unfamiliar, patch-test first and confirm the flooring or coating manufacturer’s protection requirements.
Timber flooring
Use on fully cured, sealed timber and floorboards after checking the coating has reached the manufacturer’s required cure.
Tile and stone
Suitable for cured ceramic, porcelain and compatible sealed stone surfaces that are free of dust and construction moisture.
Vinyl flooring
A useful option for established commercial vinyl and resilient floors once the adhesive and flooring system are fully cured.
Carpet
Keep carpet clean and protected with effective floor protection. Avoid the unnecessary cost of replacing your carpet.
Simple installation
Cover a nominal 50m² with one roll
The 1m × 50m format is easy to plan across rooms and corridors. Actual coverage will be lower after allowing for 7cm overlaps, cuts, stairs and project waste.
Check the floor
Confirm the substrate, adhesive, coating and finish are fully cured. Remove dust, grit and moisture, then test a small inconspicuous area.
Position the roll
Place the self-adhesive felt side down. Unroll in a straight line and smooth it progressively rather than dragging the material across the floor.
Cut safely
Trim with suitable scissors or a knife and protective cutting surface. Never run a blade directly against the finished floor you are trying to protect.
Overlap by 7cm
Lay the next run with a consistent overlap and press the joint flat. Inspect high-traffic areas during the job and replace damaged sections when needed.

Where STD Blue fits
A balanced grade for everyday trade protection
STD Blue sits between our lighter Mercury roll and the specialised Anti-Slippery and Heavy Duty grades. It is the general-purpose option we would usually discuss when a builder or contractor needs more substance than a light painting cover, but does not require a breathable construction or the extra mass of the 260gsm product.
It works particularly well during internal renovations, apartment upgrades, commercial fit-outs, painting, joinery installation and defect work. The self-adhesive backing is useful in corridors and connecting rooms where a loose covering may need frequent repositioning. Because each roll is 1m wide, installers can keep runs manageable around doorways and changes of direction.
Good floor protection still depends on site management. Sweep or vacuum grit before installation, do not cover damp floors, and check the product periodically where trolleys, ladders or repeated foot traffic concentrate. No temporary covering should be treated as structural impact protection. Use boards or a purpose-designed load-spreading system beneath very heavy equipment, sharp legs or concentrated loads.

What is STD Blue 160gsm floor protection?
It is a temporary, self-adhesive and multi-layer floor covering for suitable fully cured hard floors. Its blue PE face, lamination layer and non-woven adhesive backing work together to resist everyday site mess, reduce movement and remove cleanly after use.
Does STD Blue need floor tape?
No floor tape is normally required. Install the felt side down and overlap neighbouring runs by approximately 7cm. Complicated edges or unusual site conditions may need a different detail, so always assess the work area before installation.
Will it leave adhesive residue?
STD Blue is designed for clean removal from compatible, fully cured surfaces. Surface condition matters: contamination, moisture, uncured coatings, unusual sealers and extended exposure can change performance. Patch-test first and follow the floor manufacturer’s requirements.
Can I use it on newly installed or freshly coated flooring?
STD Blue is not breathable, so it should not be used where moisture or vapour needs to escape. Confirm the flooring, adhesive, sealer or coating has fully cured. Where breathability is required, review Anti-Slippery 160gsm and still follow the floor system manufacturer’s instructions.
Is STD Blue waterproof?
The PE face is liquid resistant and is intended to help contain common paint splashes and minor spills. Joints, edges, punctures and damaged areas remain possible entry points, so wipe up liquids promptly and inspect the covering throughout the job.
How many rolls will I need?
Each 1m × 50m roll has a nominal area of 50m². Your usable coverage will be lower once you allow for 7cm overlaps, cutting, irregular rooms, stairs and waste. Use the roll calculator or send us the project area for help estimating.
Can the roll be reused?
Yes, provided the material remains clean, undamaged and suitable for the next surface. Roll it carefully after removal and inspect the backing. Do not reuse a section carrying grit, wet paint, sharp debris or contamination that could mark the next floor.
